editor's review

Mollify is an open source, platform-independent and free web-based application designed for managing and publishing files that are hosted on a PHP-based web server. It provides an AJAX-powered, highly customizable (via CSS) and very clean user interface.

Features at a glance

Key features include support for user authentication, file level user access control, ability to rename, create and delete folders, support for downloading, extracting and compressing zip archives, sortable file lists, support for file descriptions, support for both MySQL and SQLite databases, support for searching files, batch uploading of files, as well as an independent backend and frontend.

Another interesting feature is the ability to configure published folders, including aliases, as the filesystem structure will not be revealed. In addition, all users will have their own published folders, and they will be able to edit files directly from their web browser. The software offers two distinct view modes, list and icons for viewing files.

Supports a wide range of file types

Mollify supports a wide range of file types, including MP3, JPG, PDF, GIF, FLV, XLS, DOC, XML, CS, HTML, C, as well as most text formats. It also supports drag and drop of files from and to your desktop, supports uploading of multiple files simultaneously, supports comments on files and folders, supports notifications for various events, supports sharing of files and folders as public links, supports file/folder access via the WebDAV protocol.

Works on Linux, BSD, Solaris, Windows, and Mac

Mollify is a true cross-platform software that works well on any operating system, including GNU/Linux, BSD, Solaris, Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS X, with any modern web browser that supports JavaScript and DHTML technologies, such as Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari, and Opera. At the moment, it has been successfully tested on 32 and 64-bit computer platforms.
