Less.php For Linux

Less.php is an open source, free and web-based software written in the PHP server-side scripting language and designed from the offset as a port of the official LESS.js processor to output the same results as LESS 1.4.2. In order to be compatible with the PHP 5.2 or later, the namespaces, shorthand ternary operators and anonymous functions have been removed from Less.php.

Key features include support for evaluating JavaScript expressions, as well as support for adding definition of custom functions. With Less.php you can parse strings, parse Less files, handle invalid Less files, parse multiple sources, compress output, cache CSS, gather information about the parsed files, import directories and set variables. It supports version 3 source maps and can be easily integrated with other open source projects, such as Drupal and WordPress.

The software is distributed as a universal source archive, as well as a binary package. Using the source archive, you will have to extract it and copy the files from the /lib/Less folders to a directory on your web server, include the library and register the Autoloader using the following lines of code:

require_once '[path to less.php]/Autoloader.php'; Less_Autoloader::register();

However, we believe that the simplest way to install Less.php is to use the binary package, which must be extracted on your path, then upload all the .php files to your web server, and include the library by using the “require_once '[path to less.php]/Less.php';” line of code (without quotes, of course).
