Cloudmin is a both free and paid web-based application built on top of the powerful and universal Webmin system administration software and designed for easy management of virtual systems like KVM, Xen, and OpenVZ. It is distributed in multiple editions that include different set of features, displayed below at a glance.
With Cloudmin GPL, you will be able to create, resize, startup, shutdown, restrict and destroy single or multiple virtual system instances using various virtualization technologies, thanks to its intuitive and easy-to-use user interface that supports additional logins, which are called system owners.
It supports additional logins, it’s designed for VPS hosting companies, and features a full command-line API (Application Programming Interface) that allows skilled system administrators to manage virtual systems using HTTP requests or through a shell script.
Cloudmin is not only designed for the use in VPS hosting corporations that sell virtual systems to their clients, as it can also be used by anyone who’s looking for a free and capable solution for controlling a cluster of Virtualmin hosts, learn about cloud computing, as well as for testing and managing virtualized applications.
Unfortunately, the Cloudmin GPL edition is limited, because of the GPL license. This means that the Pro edition of Cloudmin comes with all the missing features, including support for VServers, OpenVZ, Xen, KVM, and Solaris Zones virtual systems.
Cloudmin Pro allows users to create and manage Amazon EC2 accounts, images, instances, storage volumes, and addresses. It also lets you to manage multiple host systems using a single user interface, supports managing of multiple non-virtual systems (e.g. computers running Virtualmin).
Live reproduction of configuration options from a Cloudmin master to a single or multiple backup machines is also possible, as well as support for multiple locations for storing system images, which solves the problem of deploying multiple copies to remote data centers.
What's new in Cloudmin 7.5:
- Added a Cloudmin Configuration option to limit the time for which system statistics and bandwidth usage data is kept.
- Moved the page for importing existing image files to be accessible from a new link on the left menu, and added support for downloading pre-built Xen and KVM images from Stacklet.
- The statistics graph page for a single system can now show multiple stats at the same time.
