Google Mail Checker is a Google Chrome extension that displays the number of unread messages in your GMail inbox. You can also click the button to open your inbox.
It also comes with a swell animation when the number of items in your inbox changes.
Note: The Google Mail Checker does not yet work well with GAFYD.
