Glassy aqua button on a glossy black toolbar made Aquatint Black one of the most popular dark themes by users.
It is a major challenge keeping themes compatible with each of the extensions that make Firefox the best browser on the web. For this version I scaled back some on the overall detail of the theme in order to maximize usability. I have purposefully kept the default settings for some features such as the property window, add-ons menu, drop down menus, etc. in order to prevent poor display among the many different operating systems and settings.
There are a few small changes to the main toolbar. The URL and search windows have been slightly redesigned. This was done to decrease the risk of highlight issues and poor display of text. I got rid of the fully rounded ends and switched to slightly rounded corners.
Previous versions of Aquatint Black included the Ask.com search engine but I have switched to Bing.
Also new with this version is the opportunity to extend the look of Aquatint Black After you install Aquatint Black, you will be able to add a custom version of the New Tab King extension. New Tab King adds style and functionality found in other browsers such as Safari and Chrome. The previously blank new tab window will now look as awesome as your toolbar. With New Tab King, opening a new tab window displays your most frequently visited sites, recently closed tabs, and a search window. This search window enables you to quickly search through bookmarks, history or even search the web. You can also change the theme of your new tab with several custom options or even upload pictures. It has a setting to use an image RSS feed from sites like picasaweb so your new tab background rotates through your favorite image gallery.
There is a reason the other browsers included this feature and now, with New Tab King, Firefox is better than ever. You can see previews of how it looks in the screenshots below.
