What is ownCloud?

It is an amazing product that includes top-notch features like versioning and encryption support. It can be deployed using BitNami’s native installers, on the cloud, as a virtual machine, on top of a LAMP stack or as a Docker container.
Installing Bitnami ownCloud Stack
Thanks to Bitnami, you now have the unique opportunity to deploy ownCloud on your computer and use it as your personal cloud server. To install it, download the package that corresponds to your computer’s hardware architecture (32-bit and 64-bit), run it and follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
Run ownCloud on the cloud
The header above sounds quite funny, but ownCloud provides a cloud solution that run on the cloud, hence its name. However, you can run it on your own hosting provider or on Amazon EC2 and Windows Azure cloud hosting services using Bitnami’s cloud images.
Use ownCloud on a virtual machine
In addition to install ownCloud on your personal computer or run it on the cloud, it is possible to use ownCloud o a virtual appliance, thanks to Bitnami’s virtual machine image based on the latest stable version of the world’s most popular free operating system, Ubuntu, and designed for Oracle VirtualBox and VMware ESX/ESXi virtualization software.
The Bitnami ownCloud Module
Besides the Bitnami ownCloud Stack product reviewed here, Bitnami also offers a module for the Bitnami LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) server, allowing users to install only ownCloud, without its runtime dependencies. Bitnami ownCloud Module can be downloaded from Softpedia, free of charge!
