Bitnami Tracks Module
Bitnami Tracks Module is a free solution for deploying the Tracks productivity software on an existing Bitnami LAMP server, without having to use the Bitnami Tracks Stack product or to manually install Tracks’ dependencies, such as Apache, MySQL or PHP. It is a cross-platform software supported on all mainstream operating systems and hardware architectures.
What is Tracks?
Tracks is a free, platform-independent and open source web-based productivity application written with Ruby on Rails and designed from the ground up to implement David Allen’s Getting Things Done methodology. Tracks comes with dozens of attractive features, including a built-in web server called WEBrick.
Installing Bitnami Tracks Module
The Bitnami Tracks Module native installers have been developed using the BitRock InstallBuilder tool, which means that they are cross-platform and work well with distributions of Linux, as well as with the Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems. To install it, just download the package that corresponds to your computer’s hardware architecture (64-bit or 32-bit), run it and follow the on-screen instructions.
Run Tracks on the cloud or virtualize it
Thanks to Bitnami, you can also run Tracks on the cloud instead of installing it on a computer. For this, you will need the pre-built cloud images for the Amazon EC2 or Windows Azure cloud hosting providers. Additionally, you can virtualize Tracks using Bitnami’s virtual machine image based on the latest LTS version of Ubuntu and designed to be compatible with VMware or VirtualBox virtualization software.
The Bitnami Tracks Stacks
Besides the Bitnami Tracks Module product reviewed here, Bitnami also offers a stack, which is an all-in-one installer for deploying the Tracks application on any desktop computer or laptop without having to pay for expensive products or services. The Bitnami Tracks Stacks is also free of charge and it’s available for download separately on Softpedia.
