What is Spree?Spree is an open source, powerful and flexible e-commerce platform for the Ruby enterprise. It is successfully used by over 50,000 stores worldwide and has been designed from the ground up to help anyone automate the fulfillment and order process.
Installing Bitnami Spree StackBitnami Spree Stack can be deployed using a native installer, in the cloud, as a virtual machine or as a module over an already installed infrastructure stack (see the next two sections for details). To install the Spree software on your personal computer, download the package the corresponds to your computer’s architecture (32-bit or 64-bit), run it and follow the on-screen instructions. The Bitnami Spree Stack native installers were packaged using BitRock's cross platform installer tool.
Run Spree on the cloudThanks to Bitnami, Spree can also be deployed on the cloud using the pre-built cloud images for the Amazon EC2 and Windows Azure cloud hosting services. In addition to deploying Spree on the cloud, you can virtualize it using Bitnami’s virtual machine images based on the latest LTS (Long Term Support) version of Ubuntu and designed to run on top of VMware ESX, ESXi and Oracle VirtualBox.
The Bitnami Spree ModuleBesides the Bitnami Spree Stack product reviewed here, Bitnami also provides a companion to the Bitnami LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) server. The Bitnami Spree Module is smaller in size than Bitnami Spree Stack, as it does not include all of Spree’s runtime dependencies. You can download it from Softpedia free of charge!
