BitNami MediaWiki Module 1.23.5-0
What is MediaWiki?
MediaWiki is a free, open source and web-based Wiki software originally written for Wikipedia. It is an extremely scalable and powerful software that provides a feature-rich Wiki implementation. Highlights include support for creating Intranets, support for building knowledge bases, support for many languages, and many other attractive features.
Installing BitNami MediaWiki Module
BitNami’s native installers automate the setup of a BitNami application stack on GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. To install the MediaWiki application on top of your existing BitNami LAMP, WAMP or MAMP stack, you will have to first download the package that corresponds to your computer’s hardware architecture, then make it executable, run it and follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
Run MediaWiki on the cloud or virtualize it
Thanks to BitNami, users can also run MediaWiki on the cloud using the pre-built cloud images for Windows Azure and Amazon EC2 cloud hosting providers. Additionally, it is possible to virtualize MediaWiki by using BitNami’s virtual appliance for Oracle VirtualBox and VMware ESX/ESXi virtualization software, based on the latest LTS (Long Term Support) release of the Ubuntu Linux operating system.
The BitNami MediaWiki Stack
Besides the BitNami MediaWiki Module product reviewed here, users can also download BitNami MediaWiki Stack, a free, native installer that greatly simplifies the installation and hosting of the MediaWiki application and its runtime dependencies on desktop computers or laptops. BitNami MediaWiki Stack is available for download on Softpedia, free of charge. A MediaWiki Docker container will also be available for download on the project’s homepage.
