Features at a glance
Bible-Discovery contains several Bible translations, dictionaries, tools for helping to understand the texts in the original language, bookmark handling, customizable font size and colour, a biblical text importing pane, and complex, quick search feature.
While the user interface is available in English and Hungarian, the software contains English translation by King James (KJV), original Bible in Greek (TR - Textus Receptus 1550/1894), original Bible in Hebrew (WLC - Westminster Leningrad Codex), digital ancient Hebrew-English dictionary, digital ancient Greek-English dictionary, and digital ancient Greek-Hungarian dictionary.
The program can be used as a concordance, and includes the original Bible in Greek, readable phonetically in Hungarian, as well as the original Bible in Hebrew, also readable phonetically in Hungarian.
Easy to use and straightforward graphical user interface
The program’s graphical user interface (GUI) is quite easy to use and straightforward, written in Java, which means that it will look the same across all supported OSes. At a glance, the user will see Bible verses organized by translations and access the built-in dictionary to better understand the original message of the Bible, as well as the built-in search functionality.
Under the hood and supported OSes
As mentioned, this is a cross-platform software project that can be used on any distribution of Linux, as well as on the Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems. It is written entirely in the Java programming language and supports any other OS where the Java Runtime Environment is available. It has been successfully tested with 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms. An Android version is also available for purchase of the project’s website.
