Fluxbox For Linux

Fluxbox is an open source window manager for the X Window System of a GNU/Linux operating system. It is a free project that aims to work standalone or integrated into an existing graphical desktop environment. Fluxbox is derived from the Blackbox window manager and aims to be as lightweight as possible, tailored specifically for low-end computers.

Being designed from the offset as a window manager, Fluxbox can be easily integrated with your current desktop environment. It is known to work with GNOME, KDE, MATE, Cinnamon, and other open source graphical desktops.

Key features include configurable window tabs, an iconbar for storing iconified/minimized windows, configurable titlebar (users can add new buttons or move existing ones), support for the KDE desktop environment, as well as support for the GNOME desktop environment.

Fluxbox lets users to easily switch between multiple workspaces using the mouse wheel, supports Emacs-like keychains and integrates a keygrabber, brings extended support for window manager hits, provides slit dockapp ordering, and maximize over slit option.

Among other interesting features, we can mention a system tray area that lets users to quickly interact with apps that can be minimized to tray, as well as with essential system functions, and full support for keyboard navigation (no mouse required). The main menu of Fluxbox is always accessible through the right-click context menu anywhere on the desktop.

Fluxbox is supported and can be easily installed on all GNU/Linux distributions, including the widely used Ubuntu, Debian, Arch Linux, Fedora, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and many other Linux kernel-based operating systems.

You can easily install Fluxbox from the main software repositories of your distribution, through the built-in graphical package manager app (e.g. Synaptic Package Manager or Ubuntu Software Center). Both 32-bit and 64-bit distributions are supported at this time.
