avi & mp4 converter is a Nautilus script that allows you to convert between different video formats.
Installation instructions:
1.download script to home dir
2.open a terminal and type: cp avi & mp4 converter ~/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts/
3. chmod u+x ~/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts/avi & mp4 converter
Get ffmpeg mencoder and gstreamer plugins for codecs!
Developer notes:
Currently works well on my Ubuntu feisty box with all needed packages installed. the mp4 fils converted should be ipod-ready so searching gtkpod how-to upload video to ipod in order to upload or use itunes on OSX/**dos to do that.
Video converting takes a lot of resource and time so be patient. During the progress use top you should see mencoder is running, otherwise something is wrong. Ubuntu users plez don�t be afraid to install -dev packages they are very usefull!
The widescreen mp4 option is for convert widescreen mp4 videos for vipod. it basically adds a top and bottom bar to videos in order to keep the wide aspect.
