An easy to use screenshot script for GNOME
Make Screenshot is a Nautilus script. Save this script to $HOME/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts AND/OR save to /usr/local/bin and drag it to the launcher.

Launch the script and you're prompted to navigate to a destination folder and give your screenshot a filename. If no file extension is specified, .jpg is assumed.

You then get a crosshair cursor - click whatever window you want to save an image of (or the desktop background for the whole thing).

After you click, you get a preview of your image (if larger than your screen due to the border, a panner also appears).

Close the viewer if you're satisfied and you're all done --OR-- click on the image, and you can edit it directly!
