Birthday Notifier imitates the upcoming birthday notifications as you find in Orkut. This, however, works offline and displays the notifications when you login to a terminal. Once you login to a character-based terminal in your UNIX / Linux system, you can view those notifications. A flat text file is used to store the event dates and messages to be displayed in the notification.
Note: The script runs in Bash and Korn shells. However, it doesn't run on Bourne shell.
Also, after the second release, no more major update in future is planned for this project. The focus will be on Event Notifier (https://launchpad.net/event-notifier/), a generalized and enhanced version of this project.
