What's new in Feisty New Human 1.01:

  • Some dialogs (new launcher, i.e.) 'wear" the automatic panel background, so I took that option out. But there still are backgrounds for gnome panel in ~/.themes/Feisty_Human/gtk-2.0/panel/, if you want to use it.

Feisty New Human is a modification of the Human theme found in Ubuntu 7.10 (Feisty Fawn).

Developer comments

I took feisty's native glossy theme (which uses clearlooks engine), traded the blue widgets for orange ones, added the glossy_orange metacity theme (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/glossy+orange?content=54781)
and Human icons.

I use beryl, so I had to change emerald for heliodor decorator at first, but now I've ported the decoration theme to emerald (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Feisty+New+Human?content=55463).

About GNOME:

GNOME is an international effort to build a complete desktop environment—the graphical user interface which sits on top of a computer operating system—entirely from free software. This goal includes creating software development frameworks, selecting application software for the desktop, and working on the programs which manage application launching, file handling, and window and task management.

GNOME is part of the GNU Project and can be used with various Unix-like operating systems, most notably Linux, and as part of Java Desktop System in Solaris.

The name originally stood for GNU Network Object Model Environment, though this acronym is deprecated. The GNOME project puts heavy emphasis on simplicity, usability, and making things “just work”.
