    Dirc description

    Dirc is a simple, lightweight and fast explorer.

    Dirc is a simple, lightweight and fast explorer. It is written purely in GTK+. It has no icons/fancy graphics so it achieves as much speed as basic GTK+ can offer.

    The DOT_dirccfg is a config file used by Dirc. It contains the start directory for the explorer. The application will not explore any directory below the set start directory. (so set it / if u want to browse all the directories).

    Why Dirc?

    · Speed. It opens in a flash.
    · You can interactively start typing to search files just like in Nautilus (without slowdown)
    · Very low memory footprint

    Requirements:

    · GTK+ version 2.0.x

    Installation:

    make
    make install

    You will need gtk+ development packages. Install will copy a generic .dirccfg to your home directory. Replace the "PATH & STPATH" entries in .dirccfg to the start directory you want.

    The applications to be used is based on extensions. .dirccfg contains the default set of applications to be used in the below format. If the file-extension matches the application will be opened. If no file-extension
    match's Dirc will use the 'DEF' application to open it. By default the DEF application is gvim. This is very useful to open extention-less files common in UNIX.

    JPG=/usr/bin/eog
    PDF=/usr/bin/evince
    DEF=/usr/bin/gvim

    Also, if your using 'xmms' Dirc will do a "enqueue" option exec instead of opening multiple instances of xmms.

    Shortcuts:

    F5 refresh
    Home return to base directory
    Backspace go back one step

    What's New in This Release:

    · As there are several bugs, So, Dirc does not provide 'delete/cut/copy' yet. Only viewing/opening/refresh/ traversing is provided as of now.
