Axon is a virtual PBX software which allows you to manage calls in your business or call center.

Here are some key features of "Axon":

Manages telephone calls within a business. All routing of calls is digital over the computer network (or even a wireless network). Unlimited number of extensions or external lines (Windows Plus Edition and Linux version only). Supports all the standard PBX features like call transfer, hold, and record. Includes a call queue sequencer with voice prompting and on-hold messages player (links to the IMS On-Hold Messages Player). Uses the open SIP standard for signalling (RFC 3261) so it works with the broad range of SIP compatible phones and other devices. Supports video (H263, H261) for Express Talk Softphone or USB and IP Video Phones. Works with hardware type VoIP extensions which just plug into the LAN (eg. Grandstream, Sipura etc.). Works with computer based softphones (eg. the Express Talk Softphone) where you make calls through your computer. Works with USB Phones plugged into computers. Links directly to VoIP services for your external lines (with cheaper calls). See Recommended VoIP Gateways for more information. If no VoIP services are available can also link to multiple external analogue PSTN lines with Carousel Virtual FXO and a CAHTA Professional Telephony Board or a single line FXO hardware adapter. Supports the international standard Session Initiation Protocol for VoIP (RFC 2543 and RFC 3261). Sends audio as higher priority packets on both ethernet and internet so your normal data will not interfere with voice transmission. Supports MD5 security authentication. Links directly to the VRS Call Recording System to record calls if required. Automatic "one-click" installer to setup the PBX software in just minutes. Does not require detailed technical setup. All configuration such as adding extensions is done using a web-like control panel through your internet browser so it can be done remotely.

Requirements:

Computer or Server

Windows 95/NT4/98/2000/Me/XP/2003/Vista Linux GTK 2.08 or Later Pentium 500MHz or above with at least 16MB RAM (32MB for 2000/XP) Computer network (any IP network). Broadband Internet Connection (for external VoIP lines).

Extensions

SIP Standard VoIP (RFC 2543 or RFC 3261) Must support symmetric UDP signalling and audio with reINVITEs.

Typically extensions are either VoIP phones, computer based softphones or hybrid softphone with USB phone combinations. For testing, before you buy VoIP phones, we recommend you use the Express Talk Softphone.

External Lines VoIP Lines **

SIP Standard VoIP (RFC 2543 or RFC 3261). Gateway provider must support H263, H261 for Video. Must provide SIP proxy server, username and password. See Recommended Sip Gateway Telco List.

Traditional Analog Lines

SIP based FXO adapter for each line. SIP Standard VoIP (RFC 2543 or RFC 3261).

** Unless you have existing lines, the preferred option will always be VoIP lines. Companies offer VoIP numbers in almost all cities of developed countries these days. They are better quality, cheaper and you don't require any special hardware because calls are routed over the internet.
