Tonido is a totally free, multiplatform and extensible web-based solution for private sharing and synchronization. It is a server/client application that has been designed from the ground up to allow users to access their Tonido applications and create a personal and private P2P (Peer-to-Peer) network.

Features at a glance

Key features include support for sharing any type of multimedia file (audio, video, image) on any device, anywhere at any time of the day and night. Yes, this translates to “a limitless application.” It can be successfully used at home or in the office, so you can easily share files with either family members or friends, as well as with your colleagues.

With Tonido, all of your files are safe and secure. In addition, all transfers between devices have a layer of encryption, making sure no one has access to your files if you don’t explicitly give them access. A backup functionality is also implemented.

The software has been engineered in such a way that it offers a vast array of applications, including Photos, WebShare, Jukebox and Workspace, all in order to make your digital life better and safer. It is an extensible development platform, allowing you to easily create new functionality.

It’s compatible with desktop and mobile platforms

When Tonido is installed on a computer, it will make files available anywhere, accessible through any supported web browser application or from your mobile phone, where it supports the Android, iOS (iPhone and iPad), Blackberry, as well as Windows Phone operating systems.

On the desktop, the application supports all mainstream operating systems, including GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. Both the Server and Client components of Tonido are available for download on Softpedia for Ubuntu/Debian-based distributions and other Linux kernel-based OSes. It has been tested on 32-bit and 64-bit computers.
