MEGAsync (MEGA Sync Client) is a free software project that allows you to sync files hosted on a MEGA (mega.co.nz) account on your Linux box, and vice versa. It is the official sync client for the powerful MEGA free cloud storage provider.

Key features include two sync methods, full and selective, support for major Linux distributions, desktop environment independent, system tray area support, ability to import links, support for viewing last synced files, support for viewing your quota, ability to pause the sync process, ability to upload local files to your MEGA account, support for proxy, bandwidth limiting, ability to exclude certain files and disable overlay icons, support for multiple languages and notifications.

After installing the app, you can open it directly from the main menu of your open source desktop environment. At first, it will ask you to log into your MEGA account or create a new one. Then, you must choose between the two install types, Full Sync or Selective Sync. That’s it, your local folder and your MEGA cloud drive will be automatically synchronized from now on.

Choose Full Sync if you want to sync your entire cloud drive to your Linux desktop, or choose Selective Sync if you want to sync only specific folders in your cloud drive. We strongly recommend you to go with the first option here.

At the moment, the MEGAsync software is officially supported on all Ubuntu flavors, including Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, Ubuntu 12.10, Ubuntu 13.10 and Ubuntu 14.04, Fedora 19 and Fedora 20, openSUSE 12.2, openSUSE 12.3 and openSUSE 13.1, as well as Debian GNU/Linux 7.0. Unofficially, it can be found on the default software repositories of Arch Linux and Manjaro.

The application uses the cross-platform Qt GUI toolkit for its graphical user interface, which means that it will require you to install some basic Qt packages in order to work properly. It is supported on both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms.
