Evolution Mapi is an open source, freely distributed and portable software project, a plugin for the powerful and award-winning Evolution email and calendar application used in the GNOME desktop environment. It aims to bring a wide range of functionality that we list below at a glance.
Features at a glance
The project comes with a vast amount of mailer features, including folder list, summary, and message fetching, mulitipart mails, email sending, message deletion, message flags sync, folder operations, create, delete, rename, move, copy emails, and public folder support.
In addition to the above, is also offers calendar, tasks and memos functions, such as Evolution Mapi: ESource creation for existing or new folders, fetch items, property mapping, create items, modify items, delete items, delta fetching, timezone handling, as well as handling meeting requests, responses and cancellations in Inbox.
Getting started with Evolution Mapi
You can download the latest version of the Evolution Mapi plugin from Softpedia, as a source tarball (tar.xz file). Save the archive locally, extract it, open a terminal emulator and navigate to the location of the extracted archive files using the ‘cd’ command.
With the terminal emulator active, type the “./configure && make” command to configure and compile the program. Then, you must use the “make install” command as root or with sudo to install Evolution Mapi system wide. Please note that both commands should be used without quotes.
Under the hood, availability and requirements
The program is written entirely in the C programming language and it’s available for download as a sources tarball (tar.xz file). Users can install it from from the main software repositories of their GNU/Linux distribution or compile it from the aforementioned source archive.
Please note that the Evolution and Evolution Data Server packages must be installed on your computer prior to installing the Evolution Mapi plugin. Supported hardware platforms include 32-bit and 64-bit.
