Instantbird is an open source and powerful instant messenger software based on Mozilla and Pidgin technologies.

Instantbird uses the Mozilla rendering engine to display IMs, and the Pidgin libpurple to connect to the different networks. It supports AIM, Gadu-Gadu, Google Talk, ICQ, Windows Live Messenger, QQ, XMPP, Facebook Chat, IRC and Yahoo! protocols.

What's New in This Release:
  • IRC: Long messages will now be sent in multiple parts, and more authentication methods are supported to connect e.g. to Freenode.
  • Twitter: Replying to a tweet now replies to all users, just like on the Twitter website!
  • User’s nicknames are now highlighted when mentioned in a chat.
  • Two new social networks were added: Odnoklassniki and VKontakte.
