Alternity is a multi-protocol instant messenger program for Linux. Currently Alternity only supports AIM, but has been designed to add others in the future. The project was started with two specific goals, functionality and usability.

I found in my wanderings of Linux and open source software, that many have great features, yet are not user friendly. Those that are user friendly have no features and are often poorly written. This project was started to bridge that gap, specifically with instant messenger programs.

Qt library and headers (version 3.3 or better)

What's New in This Release:

So it's been over a year, and its time, and just in time for the new year. Here is the latest release of Alternity, for Mac OSX and for Linux. It has all the functionality of last years release plus some new things. The main part of this release is a rewrite that was done all year, which has made it quite stable. Work has already begun on the next release, and it will surely be less then a year. There are some buttons that don't do anything and some bugs, but altogether its pretty good. Screenshots will be posted soon, until then you will just have to try it.
