This is not something difficult to achieve

Ubuntu Touch might be an operating system for mobile devices for now, but first and foremost, it's a Linux distribution. And like any Linux distro out there, it's really good at connecting to other devices, in this case a PC via the FTP protocol.

If you stop to think about it, Ubuntu has FTP support, and so does pretty much any kind of Linux distro. With a little bit of help from an Ubuntu developer who published an app for Ubuntu Touch named WifiTransfer, which helps users transfer files over FTP connections, it's actually a trivial task.

The guy who made the video below, Ronnie Tucker, is using a local LAN connection, hence the generic IP, but it doesn't have to be that way. To make things even more interesting, this is not something built into Ubuntu Touch, it's something available just because it's actually a Linux distro. And that means that pretty much anything you can do on Linux distro you'll be able to do with Ubuntu Touch (adjusting for obvious constraints).

Ronnie is connecting his Nexus 4 Ubuntu phone to a Kubuntu OS, so it has nothing to do with a particular distro. If you want to check this feature out, just download WifiTransfer and follow the video for more details.
