Ubuntu phones will run any Linux application

Remember when I reported on the new Ubuntu convergence features that allow Ubuntu phones to run any Linux app? Well, it looks like Canonical employees have started a new trend, teasing Ubuntu users with the latest convergence features.

Canonical's Ken VanDine has just posted a video on his Google+ page to tease us, mortals, with the latest Ubuntu convergence work done by him and his team of engineers at Canonical responsible for the Ubuntu desktop integration.

According to Mr. VanDine, the very short, 8-second-long video shows us the latest version of the Ubuntu for phones and tablets operating system running on a Nexus 7 device, attempting to open an image with the GIMP image editor software.

"A little Ubuntu convergence teaser. This is a video taken on my Nexus 7, of my hub-exporter example app opening an image with the Gimp," says Ken VanDine, Ubuntu Desktop Integration Engineer at Canonical.

You will have to watch the video a few times to get a glimpse of what's happening there, as 8 seconds is too short, but that's why it is called a teasing video. This said, I believe that we will have more news about the Ubuntu convergence in the near future.

Until then, watch the latest Ubuntu convergence video below, which we took the liberty of uploading on our YouTube channel, as it appears that there's no way to attach a Google+ video here.
