A couple of outstanding bugs need some attention

Ubuntu developers have been prompted by someone at Valve to fix a couple of problems in the operating system so that the new Steam Controllers will work as they are intended.

Ubuntu is the most used Linux operating system, and Canonical has a great partnership with Valve. It stands to reason for Valve to reach out to Ubuntu developers so that they fix a couple of issues that prevent the Steam Controllers from working properly.

"I'd like to ask for help in the following two bugs so that the upcoming Steam controller works in Ubuntu and Debian. Valve has provided us with the following things we'd need to fix. This seems like a good place for someone to contribute fixing both distros in one fell swoop, any takers?" writes Jorge O. Castro on the official mailing list.

The Ubuntu 15.10 development cycle is already in Beta freeze, and it remains to be seen how this fixes will land, but it shouldn't be a problem. We have already seen a Linux kernel maintainer playing with these controllers, so it shouldn't be hard to repair the issues.

Valve plans to release the Steam Machines consoles and the Steam Controller on November 10, and the developers are doing their due diligence, trying to make sure that Linux users will be able to use the new hardware.
