On October 13, Canonical's Łukasz Zemczak sent his daily report to inform Ubuntu Touch developers and Ubuntu Phone users alike about the latest work done in preparation for the forthcoming OTA-7 software update.

We reported the other day that testing continued for Ubuntu Touch OTA-7, which should arrive on time for its planned October 19 release. According to Mr. Zemczak, a couple of bugs still remain to be fixed before the final release, but the testing of the OTA-7 update is almost done.

"OTA-7 testing is almost done. We're still waiting for 2 fixes before the final release - please see the issue list below for information about the bugs themselves. Once those are done, we will re-spin and QA will perform delta-testing. We should still be able to have a releasable image starting next week," says  Łukasz Zemczak.

Once the bugs are fixed, the Ubuntu Touch developers will build the final images of the OTA-7 update and push it to the mirrors, so that Ubuntu Phone users can update their devices. As reported last week, Ubuntu Touch OTA-7 will be available for all Ubuntu Phone devices simultaneously without exceptions.

As a bonus, Mr. Zemczak revealed the initial planning for the next major Ubuntu Touch update, the OTA-8, which should be released on November 18, 2015, with the Feature and String Freeze milestones on October 27, and the Final Freeze + Release Candidate images on November 10.

Keep in mind that this is a preliminary schedule and it is subject to change. We will inform you, of course, of any modifications as soon as we receive word from the developers. Until then, enjoy the OTA-7 update and its goodies next week!
