On Thanksgiving day, Canonical's Lukasz Zemczak wrote yet another landing e-mail to inform the Ubuntu Phone and Tablet communities about the release date of the long-anticipated Ubuntu Touch OTA-14 software update.

It's been two long months since Canonical pushed the OTA-13 update to the stable channel for supported Ubuntu Touch-powered devices This has left users no other choice but to switch the rc-proposed channel, where all the magic happens, but it's not recommended for the faint of heart, or the easily angered.

Long story short, the wait is almost over, and it looks like the first week of December should bring us a new stable OTA (Over-the-Air) update. According to Mr. Zemczak, the current ETA for Ubuntu Touch OTA-14 is set for December 5 or 6, but being a phased update and all that, some users might get it a day or two later.

"As for OTA-14, so far so good, with the candidate images entering final testing. That being said, due to the current schedule and timing we'll have to wait till [the] end of next week for these to finish. This means that the current ETA for the new update is the 5-6th of December (approximately)," said Lukasz Zemczak, Canonical Foundations.

While Canonical says that the OTA-14 software update for its Ubuntu Touch mobile operating system is focused on fixing bugs, we've already reported this month that it will bring a new task manager with fuzzy background and app icons, something that should enchant fans of the Ubuntu Phone or Ubuntu Tablet devices.
