Cristian Parrino, leader of the team behind the Ubuntu Phone project as well as of the development team that creates the Ubuntu Touch operating system, has announced his resignation.

We're sorry to give you, guys, such bad news, but Cristian Parrino decided that it was time to step down from leader position and leave Canonical. The announcement was made public a few hours ago.

"Leading the team that made the Ubuntu Phone a reality has been a breathtaking experience. One that gave me the privilege and joy to work with engineering, design, marketing, product and bus dev rockstars," says Cristian Parrino.

Cristian Parrino sends a big thank you to anyone who inspired him during his work at Canonical, including the amazing Ubuntu Community, the Ubuntu Phone Insiders, Mark Shuttleworth, and Jane Silber, at the end of his goodbye letter.

It's truly sad to see great people leave, but we wish Cristian Parrino success with his new projects, as apparently, he will be part of a team that wants to develop some sort of a Fitbit for Earth, to save our planet.

The development of the Ubuntu Touch operating system that powers all Ubuntu Phones won't be affected in any way by the leaving of Cristian Parrino. Most probably, a new leader will step in and drive Canonical's Ubuntu Phone project to greater heights.
