The Ubuntu MATE project now has a hefty user base and that can only mean one thing; it's time to get some t-shirts going, and developer Martin Wimpress has already presented the model.

The only other two distros in the Ubuntu family that have t-shirts right now are Ubuntu itself and Kubuntu. Now, it looks like Ubuntu MATE will be joining them and not a moment too soon. It's nice to see that a distro gets enough traction to make this happen, and the community will surely be more than happy to wear them.

There was a time when Linux t-shirts used to be cool, but somehow it's no longer fashionable. You can't really find t-shirts that insult Microsoft or Windows, and only a few Linux projects can still pride themselves with a t-shirt offering.

In any case, if you don't want Ubuntu MATE memorabilia, you can always get the Linux distribution and give it a go. It's already a community favorite for being both modern and fast, which is not something that can be easily achieved.

You can download the latest Ubuntu MATE version from Softpedia and check it out. We'll keep you apprised with the release date for those nice t-shirts when it becomes available.
