As part of the Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) Beta 1 releases for opt-in flavors, the Ubuntu GNOME team has had the pleasure of introducing the first development build of the upcoming Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 distribution.

Powered by Ubuntu 15.10's Linux kernel 4.1 LTS packages, Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 Beta 1 now features most of the GNOME 3.16 stack, especially the beautiful and revamped GNOME Shell 3.16 user interface as the default desktop environment.

There's also a GNOME Getting Started Guide that will prompt Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 users during the first login attempt, the Shotwell image viewer and organizer has been replaced with the GNOME Photos app, and GNOME Music is now installed by default.

Another interesting feature implemented in the Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 Beta 1 release is the initial integration of a Wayland session, which can be activated by installing the gnome-session-wayland package, and then selecting the "GNOME on Wayland" entry on the login screen.

However, please note that the experimental Wayland session for GNOME 3.16 implemented in Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 Beta 1 will only work with open-source graphics drivers, not proprietary ones.

Last but not least, the Bluez 5 package has been added, and there's now syncevolution support in the GNOME Online Accounts (GOA) software. You can download Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 Beta 1 right now from Softpedia, but please keep in mind that it is a pre-release version of the OS, not suitable for production use.
