Canonical unveiled the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) operating system on April 21, 2016, as the newest long-term supported version packed full of new features and enhancements.

Powered by a long-term supported Linux kernel from the 4.4 series, Ubuntu 16.04 LTS shipped with a much-improved and stable Unity 7 interface, support for installing Snap packages, Python 3 by default, and the new APT 1.2 package manager.

It has been a little over a month since the official release of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, which was extremely welcomed by the community, and it looks like not all the LoCo teams have put together a release party.

Therefore, today we would like to inform our Ubuntu readers from Japan that there will be a release party and offline meeting to celebrate the launch of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus), which will take place in exactly one month from today, on June 26, 2016.

Ubuntu Japanese LoCo team member Mitsuya Shibata was proud to inform the community earlier today, May 26, 2016, on his Google+ account, recommending those who would like to attend the Japan release party for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS to first register.

The Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) release party will start at 12:30 p.m. (JST) and will he hosted at GREE, Inc. in Roppongi Tokyo. Of course, anyone who is interested in the Ubuntu Linux operating system is welcome to attend the event.

Explicit details on how to get there are available on the registration page above, and it will be wise to bring your cool Ubuntu-powered laptop or netbook with you if you want to brag about your custom setup of the latest Ubuntu operating system. Have fun!
