Turn-based strategy fans will be happy to learn that Feral Interactive, the UK-based video games publisher, has announced that it's porting the Total War: SHOGUN 2 and Total War: Shogun 2 - Fall of the Samurai titles to Linux and SteamOS platforms.

Launched on March 15, 2011, Total War: SHOGUN 2 is a turn-based strategy (TBS) game with real-time tactics developed by The Creative Assembly and published by Sega. The action is set in the middle of the 16th century in Feudal Japan and features enhanced full 3D battles that take place both on land and at sea.

The second title, Total War: Shogun 2 - Fall of the Samurai, is a standalone sequel to Total War: SHOGUN 2, which takes the player on an action-packed, jaw-dropping adventure set against the modern world of 19th century Japan, offering them a thrilling clash of mechanized and medieval weaponry.

"Stake your claim on the shogunate on May 23rd with Total War: SHOGUN 2 and Fall of the Samurai, two magnificently expressed entries in the legendary Total War series," reads Feral Interactive's announcement. Both titles are currently available only on macOS and Windows platforms, but next week, on May 23, 2017, Linux and SteamOS users will also be able to purchase, install and play the games. Of course, if you already own these games, they will automatically be available for installation on your Linux gaming rig or Steam Machine.

Update: Feral Interactive announced today, May 19, 2017, the system requirements for playing Total War: SHOGUN 2 and Total War: Shogun 2 - Fall of the Samurai on Linux and SteamOS. Users will need a PC running at least Ubuntu 16.04 LTS or SteamOS 2.0 with AMD 6000 series, Intel Iris Pro or Nvidia 600 series or better graphics cards.

While your computer should have a minimum of 4GB RAM and a 2GHz processor, for the best performance it is recommended to own a more powerful gaming rig with a 3GHz CPU and either a 2GB Nvidia 700 series or AMD R7 series graphics card using the Nvidia 375.26 or later graphics driver and Mesa 17.1 graphics stack.
