14 DAY TRIAL // The Tiny Core developers have been happy to announce the release and immediate availability for download of the Tiny Core piCore 7.0 operating system, a special edition of Tiny Core Linux designed for Raspberry Pi single-board computers.
Among the most interesting changes implemented in the Tiny Core 7.0 piCore distribution, we can mention Linux kernel 4.1.13 LTS, GCC (GNU Compiler Collection) 5.3.0, BusyBox 1.24.1, util-linux 2.27.1, and e2fsprogs 1.42.13.
Moreover, the OS is now distributed as a single SD card image, which comes pre-installed with SSH (Secure Shell) for all development boards. Of course, this means that there are no separate ARMv6 and ARMv7 images anymore.
"Team Tiny Core is pleased to announce the immediate availability of piCore-7.0," said Tiny Core developer Bela Markus in the release announcement. "At the same time tcz repository updated intensively. To get basic GUI, install TC.tcz from the repository."
In addition to the changes mentioned above, Tiny Core piCore 7.0 ships with the MicroPython package, which was added to the operating system's base and it's supposed to provide you with more efficient and faster scripting than traditional shells.
