The Tiny Core devs recently announced that the Tiny Core Linux 7.1 operating system is now in development, with a first RC (Release Candidate) build seeded to public testers.

According to the release notes, Tiny Core Linux 7.1 Release Candidate 1 (RC1) is a minor build that only moves the rebuildfstab call to mnttool in the mountables.sh script, puts syslogd -L after -R in tc-config, and makes the mnttool component to refresh automatically.

"Team Tiny Core is pleased to announce that Tiny Core 7.1 rc1 is available for public testing," reads the announcement. "This is a release candidate. If you decide to help test, then please test carefully. We don't want anyone to lose data. We appreciate testing and feedback."

As usual, Tiny Core Linux is distributed as Tiny Core, Core, and Tiny Core Plus editions for both 64-bit and 32-bit hardware architectures, so if you decided to become an early adopter for Tiny Core Linux 7.1 and help the devs discover potential issues, we recommend downloading the RC1 ISOs right now via our website.

Tiny Core Linux 7.1 will be the first point release in the stable 7.0 series of one of the smallest GNU/Linux operating systems available on the Open Source market. At least one or two more Release Candidate builds will be made available for Tiny Core Linux 7.1 in the coming weeks, before the final release gets out.
