A second Release Candidate has been announced for the new Tiny Core Linux 7.0 branch and it is now ready for download and testing.

Tiny Core Linux is one of the smallest distributions, and it’s been around for quite some time. A lot of operating systems can claim that they are small, but Tiny Core Linux achieves this while still providing users with a desktop environment, which is not something easy to do.

Tiny Core provides users with a complete desktop experience, a few default apps, and the tools to get more downloads. It’s a complete OS, and it’s functional out of the box. The developer has made some progress and pushed a second RC version out the door, and it’s possible that it’s also going to the last one.

According to the changelog posted today, only the already famous glibc vulnerability has been patched, and the full path for hwclock is now being used. Also, the previous release in the series brought us the new Linux kernel 4.2.9, and new packages for busybox, and GCC.

A complete list of updates and changes can be found in the official announcement. You can download Tiny Core Linux 7.0 RC2 right now from Softpedia. This is a stable version, and it’s not recommended for stable machines, but it can be easily tested in virtual machines. It’s only about 12MB, so testing it shouldn’t be a problem for anyone.
