4MLinux developer Zbigniew Konojacki informs Softpedia about the availability of a special edition of TheSSS (The Smallest Server Suite) Live Linux operating system.

Carrying the same version number as the original TheSSS release, namely 21.0, and dubbed TheSSS7, the new flavor ships with more recent PHP packages from the 7.0.x series. Specifically, TheSSS7 includes PHP 7.0.15, while TheSSS comes with PHP 5.6.30.

"TheSSS7 uses PHP7 (7.0.15) while the standard TheSSS includes PHP5 (5.6.30). All other features (Linux 4.4.30, Apache 2.4.25, MariaDB 10.1.21) are the same for both the versions," said Zbigniew Konojacki in the release announcement.

As you can see, the rest of the pre-installed LAMP components are pretty much identical to the original TheSSS 21.0 release, such as the long-term supported Linux 4.4.30 kernel, Apache 2.4.25 web server, and MariaDB 10.1.21 database server.

TheSSS7 21.0 is also based on 4MLinux Server 21.0, and the developer has gone to all the trouble of providing online demos of the 4MLinux server with PHP5 and PHP7 so that you can see the difference between TheSSS and TheSSS7.

For those not familiar with TheSSS (The Smallest Server Suite), it's a tiny Live ISO image that provides a lightweight, server-oriented operating system for those who want to set up a Linux server in minutes without installing anything on their personal computers.

TheSSS7 21.0 is available for download right now from our website, where you'll also be able to download the ISO image of the TheSSS 21.0 release. Both of them work perfectly on both 32- and 64-bit computers.
