This is one of the most beautiful games ever made

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a beautiful first-person adventure game developed by a studio named The Astronauts, and it looks like they are finally willing to take a closer look at Linux support.

The first indication that The Vanishing of Ethan Carter would arrive on Linux was given back in August 2014, but no other information has surfaced until now, with the exception of a tweet. They haven't forgotten about the Linux users, and now they are revisiting that idea.

The Astronauts has just released a Redux version of the game. The Vanishing of Ethan Carter was already a gorgeous game, and very few other titles could even come close, but its makers have ported the entire game to Unreal Engine 4 from Unreal Engine 3. This was a difficult job to do, but it also opened the door to better Linux support.

"UE4 is future proof, and now so is Ethan. It should be easier for us to support new platforms as they emerge, or to attempt supporting already existing platforms like Mac or Linux (we will look into those right after the release)," write the developers on their blog.

The Redux version of the game has been released now, so we should see some form of Beta reaching Linux users on Steam. Please keep in mind that this is not confirmation that the game will be ported, so don't go buying this game in the hopes that you'll be able to play it. On the other hand, it's an amazing game, and you can be sure that supporting this studio is the right thing to do.
