Valve released a new update for SteamOS Brewmaster branch of the operating system, bringing the version number up to 2.32. It's an important release since it brings all the latest drivers for AMD and Nvidia.

The new SteamOS Brewmaster branch of the operating system is based on Debian 8, and it's still under development. Regular users won't see any differences and the current version of SteamOS looks and feels pretty much the same. It's all about the changes made under the hood and about the support for Debian 8.

The changes that draw the most attention are the upgrades to the Nvidia and AMD drivers. This always has a big impact on the performance, so if you have this new branch of SteamOS installed make sure that you upgrade as soon as possible. The AMD Catalyst 15.7 drivers and the Nvidia 532.30 are the stars of this upgrade, but Intel users will find that things have improved for them as well, and they also have some important upgrades, including the addition of Mesa 10.6.3.

Also, xserver-xorg-video-intel (the Intel display driver) is now at version 2.99.917, libdrm has been upgraded to version 2.4.62, and the latest iceweasel package has been added.

As usual, you can download the SteamOS Brewmaster ISO from Softpedia and give it a try. Please keep in mind that this is not a Live CD, and you need an entire partition to install it.
