The developers of the Debian-based SparkyLinux operating system are announcing today the general availability of SparkyLinux 4.5.3 Rescue Edition, which brings a new and exciting tool.

The new tool we're talking about is called Redo Backup and Recovery, which some of you might have used in the past to recover your computer from a complete disaster. The tool can be run standalone from a USB flash drive or CD disc, allowing for a bare-metal restore, which can be the ultimate antivirus solution for PCs.

However, according to the SparkyLinux developers, you can now use the Redo Backup and Recovery utility directly from the SparkyLinux 4.5.3 Rescue Edition Live ISO image, which also includes up-to-date packages from the Debian Testing software repositories as of January 23, 2017.

"As the live system of Redo Backup wasn’t updated a few years, the Redo Backup tool still works fine," reads today's announcement. "The tool has been debianized and installed in Sparky Rescue Edition 4.5.3, and is available from our repo too. Please test it, and report anything you find."

So, if you want to get a fresh ISO image of SparkyLinux Rescue Edition, you are invited to download SparkyLinux 4.5.3 Rescue Edition right now from our website and give Redo Backup and Recovery a try. You can also install the tool from the official SparkyLinux repositories if you're using the Linux OS on your personal computer.

In the meantime, the current stable version of the SparkLinux operating system remains at version 4.5.2, and you can download it with the GNOME, KDE, Budgie, Trinity, MATE, Xfce, and LXQt desktop environments, as well as the Openbox or JWM window managers through our web portal.
