Everyone is getting rid of Adobe's Flash

The Solus operating system is coming along, and developers are constantly making improvements to it. The most recent iteration got a few fixes and small changes, but the most important aspect is the fact that the boot time has been reduced considerably.

We wrote a couple of days ago that Solus is now able to boot in just 3.5 seconds, but the makers of the OS have gone even further and they managed to bring that down to 1.4 seconds, which is even more impressive. The operating system is also getting rid of Adobe's Flash Player.

"In this release we opted to remove Flash Player by default, as it is nothing short of a security nightmare. The package name is listed below for those who wish to manually install it, and a graphical method for installing this easily will be provided at RC1. This ISO sees huge performance and boot time improvements (well over 50% reduction) as well as multiple fixes throughout the networking stack," said Ikey Doherty, the leader of the project.

Solus OS comes with a daily build that you can download and run as a Live CD, although you will get better performance if you install it. Still, it's not a stable iteration and using a production machine is not recommended.
