On October 26, Canonical's Michael Vogt was happy to announce the release and immediate availability for download of the ninth maintenance update of the Snappy Ubuntu Core 15.04 operating system.

According to Mr. Vogt's announcement, the ninth image for the Snappy Ubuntu Core 15.04 operating system brings support for loading modules via ubuntu-core-config tool, basic support for store channels, as well as test improvements and bugfixes.

"Hello snappy world, we are happy to announce a new Snappy Ubuntu Core stable release (image 9 at 15.04/stable)," said Michael Vogt. "The stable images were also updated to reflect the latest image available in the stable channel."

If you were waiting to update your Snappy Ubuntu Core operating system, now is the time. The new update is based on Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) and it is available for download as amd64+generic and armhf+bbb images.

Please note that Snappy Ubuntu Core is a special edition of the Ubuntu Core operating system that uses Snappy packages instead of the standard Debian-based ones. It is targeted mainly at embedded and IoT devices and allows transactional updates with rollback functionality, as well as extra security.

We do hope that the Snappy Ubuntu Core operating system will soon be rebased on the recently released Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) operating system and will receive even more awesome features.
