After informing us the other day about the availability of a new release of his RaspAnd distro that brings the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system to Raspberry Pi 3 devices, Arne Exton is happy to announce that his RaspEX OS works with the official Raspberry Pi Touch Display.

The GNU/Linux developer known for several Linux kernel-based operating systems has received earlier today, June 27, 2016, one of the cool 7-inch (800x480) touchscreen monitors that were specifically designed to work with the tiny Raspberry Pi single-board computers.

He quickly tested his RaspEX distribution based on the latest Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) operating system and built around the Kodi 16.0 media center software for the Raspberry Pi 3 and Raspberry Pi 2 computers to see if the Raspberry Pi Touch Display device is supported out of the box or it requires special configuration.

"I got the official 7″ touchscreen monitor for Raspberry Pi today. I started immediately to test the touchscreen running RaspEX. To my great pleasure (and surprise) the touchscreen worked perfectly out of the box!" said Arne Exton. "I didn’t have to install any extra packages to make it work."

Check out the attached screenshot for details. To find out more about the RaspEX operating system and download a free copy today, please visit the project's homepage.
