Today, January 6, we have been informed by the Q4OS developers about the release and immediate availability for download of the Q4OS 2.0.2 "Scorpion" computer operating system.

According to the Q4OS Team, the Q4OS 2.0.2 "Scorpion" release appears to be a development build of the Debian-based GNU/Linux distribution. It fixes some of the most annoying bugs reported by users since the previous version, as well as updates most of the distro's core components and applications to their latest versions as of January 6, 2016.

Q4OS 2.0.2 "Scorpion" is built around the Trinity Desktop Environment (TDE) 14.0.3 and fully synchronized with the software repositories of the Debian GNU/Linux 9.0 "Stretch" operating system. The installer has been improved as well, and kernel packages have been upgraded to the Linux kernel 4.3 branch.

"Q4OS 'Scorpion' will be in development as long as Debian Stretch will continue to be testing, and becomes stable together with it. Official 'Scorpion' support is set at least five years from official stable release date. Anybody is invited to try out the brand new version and report bugs and glitches," states the Q4OS Team on the email announcement.

Despite being tagged as a Beta release, Q4OS 2.0.2 "Scorpion" is a pretty stable operating system. You can download the Live ISO images for 64-bit and 32-bit hardware architectures right now from Softpedia. The stable build will arrive in the coming weeks, and the Q4OS devs promise to maintain the "Scorpion" branch until Debian 9.0 "Stretch" reaches end of life.
