14 DAY TRIAL // Proxmox VE (Virtual Environment), an open-source virtualization platform used for running Virtual Appliances and Virtual Machines, has been upgraded to version 4.1, and it is now ready for download.
Proxmox VE (Virtual Environment) 4.1 is based on Debian, and it makes use of KVM and OpenVZ, which, in fact, are Kernel-based Virtual Machine and container-virtualization. You can think of Proxmox as a distribution since it’s practically based on Debian 8.2, but it provides much better security because it’s actually a scaled virtual machine.
“The recent release is based on the latest Debian Jessie and on the 4.2.6 kernel with LXC and QEMU 2.4.1. Based on the feedback from the Proxmox community and customers, countless small improvements and bugfixes went into the product,” developers write on the official website.
According to the changelog, the ZFS integration for the ISO installer is now much better, the startup and shutdown behavior has been refined, disk resizing for LXC containers now work as expected, and several LXC technology previews like, for instance, support for unprivileged container or LVM thin support, have been added.
