The developers of the Ubuntu-based Pinguy OS Linux distribution announced a few hours ago the immediate availability for download of the Pinguy OS 14.04.3 Mini operating system.

According to the brief announcement, Pinguy OS 14.04.3 Mini is a bug and updated packages release that upgrades the Linux kernel packages to version 3.13.0-63, the same kernel used in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr), fixes issues with the installation of the GRUB bootloader, and replaces Adobe Flash Player with Pepper Flash in Firefox.

Talking about Firefox, Pinguy OS 14.04.3 Mini comes with the latest Mozilla Firefox 40.0.3 web browser, updates the Nemo file manager to version 2.6.7, add support for playing H.265/HEVC encoded videos in VLC Media Player, and fixes issues with the Docky and Network, which were broken after a suspend operation.

"Bugs: If Wifi keeps disconnecting remove TLP. Not a bug per say, but when launching Firefox for first time. Pipelight will open and download Silverlight. The new version of Nemo doesn't have the right click option for symbolic links. If you need to make links you can do so by holding Shift+Ctrl and dragging the file or folder, or by dragging with middle click," reads the announcement.

Download Pinguy OS 14.04.3 Mini right now via Softpedia or from the project's website, whichever suits you best. There, you will find Live DVD ISO images for both 64-bit and 32-bit computers. Moreover, Softpedia also lists the Pinguy OS 14.04.3 LTS operating system, the bigger brother of the Mini edition.
