The developers of the Debian-based Parsix GNU/Linux operating system have announced today, June 15, 2016, that new security fixes are available for Parsix GNU/Linux 8.5 "Atticus" and Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik."

Parsix GNU/Linux 8.5 "Atticus" is the stable version of the desktop-oriented operating system, based on Debian GNU/Linux 8 "Jessie" series, which means that it has most likely received all the security fixes that landed as part of the recently released Debian GNU/Linux 8.5 update.

Among these, we can mention security updates for VLC Media Player, Mozilla Firefox 45.2.0 ESR for Parsix GNU/Linux 8.5, Mozilla Firefox 47.0 for Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10, PHP5, Icedove e-mail and news client, as well as the p7zip command-line archive manager.

On the other hand, Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik" is the upcoming series of the Debian-based operating system, but it looks like it has also received the same security fixes. So no matter which version you use right now on your personal computer, we recommend that you update it as soon as possible.

All the details about the latest security updates that have landed for Parsix GNU/Linux can be found at http://www.parsix.org/wiki/Security. In the meantime, the OS' development team is working hard on releasing another snapshot for Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 "Erik," which will come with GNOME 3.20.2 and lots of new features.
