This Linux distribution has finally reached end of life

openSUSE 12.3 was released back in 2013 and the developers have decided that it's time to declare it EOL, which means that it has reached end of life.

It might not seem like a long time, but two years for a Linux operating system is more than usual. Users need to keep in mind that this is provided for free, so its maintaining it for a long time is actually time consuming, especially since the same devs have released other versions since then, which are better and more up to date.

"With the release of flash-player on January 29th, 2015 the SUSE sponsored maintenance of OpenSuSE 12.3 has ended. openSUSE 12.3 is now officially discontinued and out of support by SUSE. openSUSE 12.3 was released on March 13th 2013, making it ca. 11 months of security and bugfix support," said Benjamin Brunner in the mailing list.

Some of you might notice that Benjamin made a little mistake, but that's not really a problem. In any case, January 29 was the last day of support for openSUSE 12.3. No more updates will be provided and the system ca no longer be considered maintained and safe.

Users should really upgrade as soon as possible and they should download the latest openSUSE 13.2 from Softpedia and upgrade the system.
