Just a few minutes ago, on August 28, Nvidia published an updated version of the long-lived branch of its proprietary Nvidia graphics driver for GNU/Linux, FreeBSD, and Solaris operating systems, Nvidia 352.41.

According to the release notes, Nvidia 352.41 video driver for UNIX systems is a small release that introduces support for new Nvidia GPUs (Graphics Processing Units), namely Nvidia GeForce GTX 950, Nvidia Quadro M4000, and Nvidia Quadro M5000, and fixes two bugs (details below).

The new proprietary video driver from Nvidia improves the decoding and displaying of video streams encoded with the next-gen H.265/HEVC codec, by addressing a VDPAU issue. Only the top of the respective video frame was displayed because of this bug.

Lastly, Nvidia 352.41 patches an X.Org Server crash that occurred if an OpenGL application attempted to allocate a drawable when the accessible memory of the Nvidia graphics processing unit (GPU) was depleted. Download Nvidia 352.41 for GNU/Linux 32-bit and 64-bit, as well as for FreeBSD and Solaris operating systems right now from Softpedia.

We remind you that this is the long-lived branch of Nvidia's proprietary video driver for UNIX systems, so it is highly recommended that you update your Nvidia driver as soon as possible. Detailed installation instructions for both 64-bit and 32-bit systems can be found on the Nvidia website.
