CloudLinux's Mykola Naugolnyi announced today, March 7, 2017, the immediate availability of a new stable kernel update for the CloudLinux 7 operating system series.

The updated CloudLinux 7 kernel was bumped to version 3.10.0-427.36.1.lve1.4.39 and is here to address a bunch of security vulnerabilities discovered recently. First of all, you should know that this new kernel replaces the 3.10.0-427.18.2.lve1.4.38 build that many of you have installed, and can be downloaded from CloudLinux's stable repository.

Since kernel 3.10.0-427.18.2.lve1.4.38, the developers managed to address a memory leak (KMODLVE-55) related to LVE deletion, remove debug messages on LVE creation (KMODLVE-56), implement missing IO PREPARE to limit I/O operations (CLKRN-80), as well as fix the "no ops on block" error for the XFS file system (CLKRN-81).

All CloudLinux 7 users are advised to update their installations to kernel 3.10.0-427.36.1.lve1.4.39 immediately. To do that, you'll have to open a terminal emulator or switch to the virtual console and run the following command, which will install the new kernel version. Please remember to reboot your machines after the installation!

yum install kernel-3.10.0-427.36.1.lve1.4.39.el7 kmod-lve-1.4-39.el7 The CloudLinux 7 distribution is based on the Red Hat Enterprise 7 operating system series, which means that it always backports its latest kernel security updates. Please note that if you're using the KernelCare live kernel patching service, there's no need for you to reboot your systems.
