On July 23, the GNOME Project announced that the third snapshot towards the Nautilus (Files) 3.18 file manager for the upcoming GNOME 3.18 desktop environment was available for download and testing.

The Nautilus 3.17.3 milestone is distributed as part of the GNOME 3.17.4 desktop environment and introduces various improvements, such as support for switching to list view if searching, support for smarter location names, as well as the ability to hide the sort menu in the Recent location.

Furthermore, the toolbar menu settings was made the permanent and only settings of the app, the 'Modified Time' function is now used for all locations with the exception of Recent, a new design was implemented for operations feedback, and issues with the floating bar loading feedback were fixed.

Last but not least, feedback is now being displayed when there are no search results. Also, Nautilus will now add feedback when the currently displayed folder is empty. Below, we've attached the raw changelog of Nautilus 3.17.3 for reference.

You can download the Nautilus 3.17.3 sources right now from Softpedia, but please try to keep in mind that it's a pre-release version and we do not recommend installing it on production environments.
